Watermark a PDF

Add a text or image watermark to every page of a PDF. Set the colour, opacity and tilt. It runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Common questions

  • Yes. Switch to the image option and choose a PNG or JPG. A PNG with a transparent background looks best because only the logo itself shows. You set the size as a share of the page width and the opacity separately.

Text or image

A text watermark such as DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL can be tilted across the page, coloured and made as faint as you like. An image watermark places a logo or stamp in the centre at the size you choose; a PNG with a transparent background looks best.

Is a watermark permanent?

It is added to each page's content, so it prints and shows in every viewer. It is not a security measure, though: anyone with a PDF editor can remove it, so do not rely on it to stop a document being copied.

Text limits

Text watermarks use a standard font, which covers Latin letters, digits and common punctuation. For other scripts, make the watermark as an image and use the image option instead.
